For the second year in a row, some of our people took part in the beach clean-up initiative promoted by Legambiente. This year, the corporate volunteer day took place on Coccia di Morto beach in Fiumicino, a location known for being ranked the “dirtiest beach in Italy” in 2016 just in the environmental association’s Beach Litter dossier.
Armed with gloves and bags, Trice and Gway volunteers collected more than 120 kilograms of waste, helping to restore beauty to part of these places and improve their environmental conditions. Among the garbage collected were not only plastic, glass but also tires and various non-biodegradable materials.
This stretch of beach is characterized by a long, sandy expanse that, despite being within the Litorale Romano State Nature Reserve, has suffered from years of neglect due to the accumulation of garbage including from the mouth of the Tiber River.
Over the past 10 years, Legambiente has involved more than 16 thousand collaborators in the “Synergy” campaign, for a total of 120 thousand volunteer hours aimed at cleaning our coastlines. Thanks to these activities, thousands of kilograms of waste have been collected, and numerous degraded areas have been restored, contributing significantly to the preservation of biodiversity and raising awareness of environmental issues. Volunteer work with Legambiente represents a moment of strong collective commitment for us, knowing that every small gesture can make a big difference.
